The lack of a full time network administrator resulted in contractors implementing new network architecture without evaluating what was already in place. This resulted in 87 unused patch panel ports and a redundant 24 port switch.
One switch was removed leaving only a single 48 port switch and the remaining patch cables were shortened from 6 feet to 1 foot reducing clutter.
